Gordon Matta-Clark was born on June 22, 1943 in the USA. He is known for the works he made or created in the 1970s. He is known for his designs created by removing parts/cuts of buildings and some floors, ceilings and walls of abandoned buildings. Although he went to Cornell University and studied architecture, he was never interested in general architectural work. He worked on designs that he described as Anarchitecture (anarchism + architecture). Matta-Clark was against the modern home and typical family structures. He thought that modernism, based on rational reason, mechanized people and turned them into factories. He reflected his stance against this understanding on the walls. He passed away on August 27, 1978 (age 35).
